Adventures with Spiked Chai

In the heart of the Bronx, my wife and her colleagues decided to host an apartment crawl (we all live in the same building) to destress from medical resident life @ the local hospital. 

With each apartment required to have a specialty drink, and her being super busy with work, it was up to me to figure out what we could do that would (1) taste great, and (2) be something unique & unforgettable. 

Given my chai obsession, my mind naturally drifted to thinking about what it would mix best would. Would something neutral, like Vodka, allow the masala to shine brightest? Or perhaps another layer of "oomph" would take it to another level. Enter Fireball Whisky + Spiced Rum!

Fireball's fiery cinnamon kick and Captain Morgan's spiced rum were the perfect complements and layered nicely with the existing spices. Luckily for us, everyone loved it, and we very quickly ran out of chai. Outside of having to correct a few peole who said they loved "chai tea," the night went great and the drinks were a perfect send-off to a great evening. 

Recipe (Serves 1): 

2 Teaspoons Classic Masala Chai Mix
1 Cup Water
1 shot of Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum or Fireball Cinannamon Whisky
1/4 Cup Milk

Instructions:

1. Boil water, then add chai mix
2. Simmer for 3 minutes, then add milk
3. Bring the mix to room temperature, then add 1 shot of either Rum or Whisky. Optionally add ice if its really hot out! 
4. Enjoy!
