As a kid, I spent a lot of time at my grandma’s house. I didn’t always understand her Punjabi, nor did she always get my English, but my answer to, “Tussi chai peeni? (Do you want some tea?)” was always a resounding YES.
My grandmother was a widow, raising 6 daughters alone in Canada. Others may have called her an “empty nester,” but let me tell you - that nest was anything but empty. A revolving group of aunties + uncles were always passing through, spilling the tea over a cup of my grandma’s renowned chai.
For my nani, chai was more than a drink - it was a way to slow down & genuinely connect with people over our shared experiences. While she unfortunately passed 10 years ago, every time I sip on a cup, I’m a kid again back in her living room, eavesdropping on what the elders were talking about.
This sense of nostalgia is at the heart of our mission at Masala Magic: to connect people through authentic, flavorful experiences that taste like home. We’d love for you to come along for the ride, one sip of chai at a time.
